Alt-Paunsdorf is connected to the city and the surrounding area by Riesaer Straße (old B6) and Theodor-Heuss-Straße, with Riesaer Straße continuing from Ostheimstraße (Leipzig-Stünz) as Leipziger Straße and B 6 to Kühren b. Wurzen, running parallel to the first German long-distance railway line between Leipzig and Dresden for over 30 kilometers. Neu-Paunsdorf is connected via Permoserstraße (B 6) and Heiterblickallee. With the exception of the four roads listed above, all roads in Paunsdorf are 30 km/h zones.
Public transport
In terms of public transport, tram lines 7 and 8 connect Paunsdorf with the city center and Sommerfeld. Both lines run along Riesaer Straße to the Paunsdorf tram station and then turn onto a separate track. From there, both lines run separately from private traffic to their respective terminus. Both lines complement each other on weekdays during the day with a 4/6-minute interval. On Saturdays, there is a 7/8-minute interval during the day. On Sundays, line 7 runs every 30 minutes early in the morning and late in the evening, with quarter-hourly service in between.
Although the terminus of line 8 Paunsdorf-Nord was in Paunsdorf when it opened, it is now in Heiterblick according to the current city map. On weekdays and Saturdays, bus line 90 connects Paunsdorf with the Paunsdorf Center (P.C.) and Wahren, while on Sundays it only runs to the Paunsdorf tram station. Bus line 72 runs on weekdays and Saturdays from Paunsdorf (bus terminus) via Engelsdorf and Mölkau to the main station, where it connects with tram lines 7 and 8. In the evenings, line 73 terminates at the Paunsdorf bus terminus. Bus line 79 runs every 20 minutes from Thekla via Paunsdorf to the Connewitz S-Bahn station, providing an important north-south connection. During the summer months, every second trip is extended to Lake Cospuden. During the night, night bus line N7 connects the city center with Paunsdorf.
